Development Impact Fee

The following fire mitigation fees are effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 per Resolution 2025-54(PDF, 93KB).

Buildings exceeding two stories or 32' in height at the lowest point of the roof, an aerial ladder truck fee of $0.50 per SF will be charged on the habitable area of the third and higher floors, or the entire building if over 32' in height at the lowest point of the roof.

 

Fire Service Fee

Annual Notification & Hearing Process 

Each July, all property and mobile homeowners receive a notice of the annual Fire Service Fee, which outlines the assessed amount and provides information on how to request a correction or modification, if necessary. 

On August 6, 2025, 5 p.m., at the Public Safety Building (911 Donaldson Way East), the Fire Service Fee Board of Review will hold a public hearing to consider any protests or objections to the fee. The hearing serves as an opportunity to: 

  • Request corrections or adjustments 
  • Confirm the assessed amounts 
  • Voice concerns before the final fees are adopted

Is this Notice a bill? No, the Notice is not a bill. If you have a question about the amount of your assessment in the upcoming fiscal year. The Board of Review does not have the authority to waive the assessment, but does have the authority to authorize corrections if there is an error in the calculations.

Is the “Notice” a new fee? No, it is not a new fee.

Is it a fee for service or a fine? No, it is not a fee for service or a fine.

What is the assessment utilized for? 100% of the revenue generated from the assessment is utilized for general operation of the American Canyon Fire Protection District.

Background

In 1980, American Canyon voters approved Measure B, a special tax assessment established to support and maintain local fire protection services. Since that time, all property and mobile homeowners in American Canyon have contributed to this essential funding through an annual Fire Service Fee. 

This fee plays a critical role in helping the American Canyon Fire Protection District deliver reliable, high-quality emergency services to the community.

First Responder Fee

On November 5, 2019, the Board of Directors passed and adopted Ordinance 2019-02, establishing a First Responder Fee for Emergency Services. This fee is authorized under California Health and Safety Code Sections 13146.2(b), 13217(b), 13862, 13869, 13871, 13874, 13916, and 17951, along with Chapter 8, Division 1, Title 7 of the California Government Code, authorizing the District to adopt a First Responder Fee and collect a fee to cover the costs associated with providing District services.

For Fiscal Year 2025-26, the First Responder fee is $730.30 per Resolution 2025-10(PDF, 336KB).
